Case Study · E-commerce Redesign
GreenGlides, rebuilt by hand.
A page-builder store rebuilt on a custom theme — zero products, pricing, or orders lost — with SKU search, a mobile experience built from scratch, and a distributor map that keeps itself current.
The situation
GreenGlides sells the low-friction glides, wands, and tools that carpet-cleaning professionals reach for by name — a real B2B catalog serving more than 19,000 cleaning pros, with distributor and wholesale pricing, per-account negotiated rates, and years of order history behind it.
That business was running on a website that could not keep up with it. The old site was built in the Elementor page builder: heavy, hard to change, and prone to a recurring failure where a routine cache or plugin operation would wipe Elementor's generated CSS and strip the styling off the entire store. Search was an afterthought. The mobile experience was retrofitted, not designed. And the "Find a Distributor" map still sent buyers to supplier branches that had closed years earlier.
We rebuilt the whole front end from the ground up — without touching a single product, price, or order.
01 · Platform & architecture
From a page builder to a theme built by hand.
We replaced Elementor and Elementor Pro with a hand-coded WordPress theme — PHP templates and ACF, no page builder. The entire commerce layer carried over untouched: every product and variation, the role-based distributor and wholesale pricing model, per-user negotiated pricing, and the full order history. Zero data lost. And with the page builder gone, so is the CSS-wipe breakage that used to strip the site's styling without warning.
The old homepage: a few generic feature boxes and a lonely "Search Here" field, with no real path into the catalog.
The rebuilt homepage: a masthead search that accepts a name or a SKU, the JubiLEE flagship spotlight, product rails, and category cards that get buyers into the catalog fast.
The payload is leaner too — a single versioned theme stylesheet and script in place of Elementor's per-page generated CSS. Assets now cache-bust reliably by file modification time, so a change we make is a change the customer actually sees.
02 · Search by name and SKU
A trade audience searches by SKU.
Pros do not browse — they know exactly what they want and often know its part number. So search is now a primary element in the masthead, with live autocomplete that matches on both product name and SKU. As the buyer types, a dropdown surfaces matching products with a thumbnail, name, SKU, price, and category, and either a product SKU or a variation SKU resolves to the right item. The results page is SKU-aware too, not just the autocomplete.
Type a word and every matching product surfaces instantly — thumbnail, name, SKU, price and category on each row.
Type a part number and the store matches it on the SKU field directly — the exact behavior a pro expects.
03 · Mobile, rebuilt from the ground up
Not retrofitted — rebuilt.
The old mobile site was a desktop layout squeezed onto a phone, complete with overlapping elements and horizontal-scroll bugs from oversized media. The new site is mobile-first in every template: an off-canvas drawer menu with tap-to-expand submenus, a dedicated mobile search toggle, a slide-out cart, and product, cart, and checkout pages that are genuinely usable on a phone.
The old mobile homepage.
The rebuilt mobile homepage.
A proper off-canvas drawer, with the full catalog one tap away.
The same name-and-SKU autocomplete, in the mobile masthead.
04 · The distributor map
A distributor map you can trust.
The old locator was quietly sending buyers to dead ends. A search near Philadelphia returned Interlink Supply and Jon-Don branches — chains acquired by Aramsco and no longer operating under those names. We removed 50 defunct and duplicate listings (47 Interlink / Jon-Don locations plus Judson, Everlast and Empire), added the current Aramsco branch network as 52 accurately geocoded locations, and generated the on-page count from the real published list: an honest 98 distributor locations across the US and Canada.
The old map pointed customers to Interlink Supply and Jon-Don — supplier branches that no longer exist under those names.
The rebuilt locator: an honest, generated count of 98 current locations on a clean US and Canada map.
And it stays current on its own. We added a self-service feature so a logged-in distributor can add, update, or remove their own pin. It is gated to distributor accounts, duplicate-proof by design — one listing per account, so saving again updates the existing pin instead of creating a second — and auto-geocoded from the address they enter. Submissions publish to the map immediately, while the agency keeps full edit and remove control in the admin. The map maintains itself, without becoming a standing chore for anyone.
Better buying, end to end
The details that make a store feel bought from.
Beyond the four big moves, the redesign cleaned up the surfaces buyers actually touch — clearer product pages, uniform category grids, and a cart and checkout that finally match the rest of the site.
The old single-product layout.
A cleaner buying page — rating, a highlighted SKU, and structured specs. The old JubiLEE horizontal-scroll bug, caused by oversized description media, is fixed.
The old category grid.
A uniform four-up grid with full-width imagery that collapses cleanly on smaller screens.
A handful of smaller fixes round it out:
- A slide-out cart drawer on every device, with live item count, that auto-opens on add-to-cart — plus cart and checkout pages rebuilt on the proper WooCommerce shortcodes, replacing the hardcoded static HTML that made them look broken.
- The JubiLEE flagship given a proper spotlight on the homepage, the way the client wanted it.
- "Wholesaler" relabeled to "Distributor" everywhere customer-facing, matching how the brand refers to its buyers.
- Dead links repaired — including a footer "Contact" link that used to 404 — with a full re-crawl confirming zero dead links.
- Copy corrected: "1,900 cleaning pros" is now the accurate "19,000," and the phone number is consistent site-wide at (775) 392-1275.
- A SiteGround "remove query strings" setting fixed, so style and script updates finally reach every visitor — especially on mobile.
By the numbers
What the rebuild moved.
Why it matters
A B2B store is a working tool for the people who buy from it. When the platform is fragile, the search does not speak the buyer's language, the phone in their pocket fights them, and the distributor map sends them to a supplier that closed years ago, every one of those is a quiet reason to buy somewhere else.
Moving GreenGlides off the page builder and onto a hand-built theme fixed the foundation without risking a single order. Then we made the store faster to search, honest about where to buy, and genuinely good on a phone — the details a 19,000-strong professional audience notices immediately, even when they could not tell you why.
